This race was Hamilton's! Mercedes why? And what on earth is wrong with Felipe Massa? He just took out Perez for no good reason. This is one of the most annoying F1 races ever

Ummm Massa and Perez was unfortunate thing, I am not sure still who is the culprit. Also fuck Hamilton, he is the LeBron of F1, too much whine, not enough quality. If he is so good, he would have overcome the obstacles that were infront of him.

The Mercedes battle might have been good. No guarantees for Hamilton. The fact that their car faltered was bad for them but good for everyone else, the audience especially. Great race to watch.

Felipe was not at fault. Perez moved in front of him in the braking zone and Massa had nowhere to go. We're lucky that both drivers got out of the car quickly and that the Williams didn't spear Vettel. It could have been much, much worse. I'm sure the incident will be reviewed and that Checo is likely to see a penalty from it.

"This is one of the most annoying F1 races ever" - You sound like you're ~12 years old here.

Mechanical/electrical failure can happen to anyone. It looks like it was hitting the mercedes units harder than the rest. Something to do with the ERS? This was one of the BEST races ever and the failures went to prove that while the mercs made the power, there were still engineeirng issues to resolve. I wouldn't doubt that massa had a sudden loss of brakes similar to hamilton earlier on or even Bottas about 15 laps prior.

None of this was the drivers' faults and if you looked past that you would have seen one of the most exciting races in the past two decades. Perez and Rsoberg drove their asses off to keep some stricken cars on the track. Massa blazed up from what 8th? 9th? To be in the top 5 before what looked like a sudden issue ended his day on a daring last lap pass for some more points. Riccardo and Vettel kept their heads on them and were able to get podiums. Vettel wasn't a whiny bitch and drove hard to EARN his third place. He kept his ego in check and id what he is paid to do - Drive really damn well. I don't say this often but hats off to Vettel for taking his time with the Perez pass and successfully defending against Massa's more powerful car.

Call him whatever you want but I was rooting for him. He showed some super excellent driving today and was waaay faster than anyone on the track. Even after Rosberg cheated and cut the chicane, Hamilton still closed the gap to less than .7 secs behind him. I was all for Hamilton today.

True that. It was exciting as hell all the way right from the initial fight between Hamilton and Rosberg till the crazy finish. I was just so disappointed because the two fastest cars, lapping others more than 4 secs a lap had to break down. Yes it did make for a dramatic finish but i was watching Hamilton at his best.....coming from behind Rosberg and taking the lead. Just watching the two of them, I had enough drama to last a day

Well well you just couldn't resist taking a shot at my age because i found an F1 race annoying. Very mature of you. But let me ask you this what part of that race wasn't annoying. Hamilton brought his A game and put good pressure on Rosberg. After Rosberg cheated and cut the chicane he wasn't penalized. Why?

As if that wasn't enough, i had to watch the two fastest cars by over 4 seconds drop back and one get eliminated. What about that wasn't annoying? Yes it made for a very dramatic finish but as you can tell i was rooting for Mercedes and Hamilton in particular. Maybe I should have used the word disappointing not annoying but that does not mean you can take cheap shots at my age because you have a differing opinion.

What about the two fastest cars getting eliminated is annoying? I mean sorry if you're a Merc fan but even if they are your team it's not fun watching the same team win every race. I'm saying that as an RBR fan - yes I enjoyed watching Vettel dominate 2011 and the latter half of last year but it was not great racing to watch. I much prefer to see a close battle, hence my lack of remorse for the Mercedes.

Don't focus too much on me calling you a 12 year old. That "This is one of the most annoying F1 races ever" comment was very much like an immature complaint. If you are actually 12 years old, sorry.

You must think you're a real smart ass but I'll say this again, having differing opinions does not call for infantile comments like yours. Even a 12 year old knows that so it baffles me why a fully grown ape like you can't comprehend such a simple concept. Keep your bullshit to yourself

I'm sorry you had to come across this kid who obviously hasn't read the Oppositelock Handbook.

Listen kid, I'm not here to be mean, I'm just here to tell you how things work around here. Look you your post about Formula 1. Now look at all the others. No one else says anything specific about the race. That's called spoilers. Don't do it. If you want to vent, whatever, we don't care, just don't spoil the race for others. Kick the rants down a paragraph and give a warning. If you just want to shout about how life isn't fair, I suggest Facebook and Twitter in the future.

Secondly, reading through the comments it would appear that you haven't read the Oppositelock Handbook . Don't be a dick. It's rule one and it's really not that hard. Three long term members commented in a non malicious fashion and you immediately attacked two of them for their opinion. That's called being a dick, don't do it.

Hopefully you've settled down by now and can simply accept that sometimes when shit happens the best we can do is accept it and hope the next race goes better for our favorite drivers.

Oh boy! First of all i'll go ahead to apologize for spoiling the surprise. Of course i'm new here on oppo so i wasn't privy to that information so i apologize and it won't happen again.

Onto the next point, please show me the three members i was being a dick to and attacked in a malicious form. Or maybe you can't read. Go back and read all the comments and show me where i attacked anybody. So simply carrying out a conversation and having a different opinion constitutes attaching right? What is the nonsense? Most of the people i replied to i accepted their opinions and explained why i was disappointed with the race today. That's attacking? Wow

Now onto the fool called breaking bad you might do well to read the comments again and figure out who instigated things. He didn't have a problem with me posting spoilers just a different opinion laced with insults; and seeing as i haven't insulted anybody here so i won't take lightly to being belittled for my opinion.

Now before i get carried away, i will admit that i understand you're trying to help me out here and explain things and i'll even overlook you calling me a kid because to this site i'm a newbie or a "kid". And i realize making such an expository post like that was dumb; but don't think i'll stand by and be insulted because a veteran of an internet site feels he or she is older or more knowledgeable than i am. You don't know me.

I did actually have a problem with the spoilers, I just didn't care to mention it, figuring others would, which they did. My reply was hardly 'laced with insults', I took issue with your statement bitching and moaning how this was the "most annoying race ever". It came off as immature and I called you on it. Perhaps in a way that was a bit brash but you took it far more seriously than ever intended. Sorry, get over it.

Don't read further into my statement than what is written. I don't assume I am older or more knowledgeable than you, heck, I might not be. Regardless, this is not some dick-measuring contest of knowledge of age.

I'm here to learn things and have interesting discussions. I'll overlook you calling me a fool and if you'd like to continue the relevant part of our earlier conversation, let the bit that irked you go and please do.

Edit - also it appears the stewards thought similarly about the Massa - Perez incident as they penalized Checo for changing his racing line too late (in the braking zone).

Okay i apologize for reading too much into your statements and insulting you. I really hate doing stuff like that; it just came across as a little too harsh, i overreacted and i apologize. You do seem like a genuinely nice person.

Now thanks for that link. I'm surprised at that decision and i guess i'm gonna have to watch the race all over again. There's gonna be a lot of blame going around, not to mention the issue they were all having with their brakes but if he did change his driving line and collided with Massa, then i guess it's justified

It's all good. I don't like to hold grudges and I didn't intend to come across the way I did, my bad. Let's move on.

The overhead makes the reason for the penalty pretty clear:

Kinja'd!!!

Instead of following the right hand curve before turn 1 Perez drifts into the centre of the track, right when Massa makes his move. Because he had a problem with his brakes Sergio also had to brake earlier than Massa. Both of actions would have caught Felipe off guard and the collision was inevitable.

The penalty is good, not too harsh, but it is justified IMO. It's good that they're both OK, those were hard impacts and it could have been much worse.
